I’ve just come home from the Jan Gabarek concert - it was stunningly perfect, definitely the best concert I’ve ever heard! What an evening!

The Laeiszhalle was sold out of course. The whole thing started laid-back, almost with a slight new age touch, soon more lenghty melodic parts dropped in and it got amazingly groovy. Long-lasting applause in the breaks and after the solos of each of the four musicians already signalized how this concert would end: minutes of standing ovations.

Besides Jan Gabarek, the group consisted of Manu Katché on drums, Rainer Brüninghaus on keyboards, and brasilian bass virtuoso Yuri Daniel. Yes, unfortunatly Eberhard Weber was not on bass, he had a stroke in April from which he hasn’t recovered yet, sadly. Get well soon!

Thanks to all four musicians for this outstanding event! I’ve always loved the music of Jan Gabarek but now I’m a real fan!
